Reliqvia is one of the most atmospheric incense fragrances in modern niche perfumery — a unisex extrait de parfum from Italian artist Filippo Sorcinelli, the designer of liturgical vestments for the Vatican, who brings that world of candle smoke, old stone and gilded wood directly into scent. Released in 2021 under his UNUM line, it takes its name from the Latin for "what remains" and its inspiration from the Church of the Cross in Senigallia. The opening is resinous and green: pine and mastic sharpened with clove, amyris and a flicker of orange blossom. The heart is where the chapel doors open — dense church incense wrapped in guaiac wood, sandalwood, cashmere wood and patchouli. The base settles into something warmer and quietly sweet: smoke, elemi, nutmeg and tobacco, lifted by an unexpected thread of sweet orange and blackcurrant.
