Aramis is one of the true landmarks of men's perfumery — launched in 1965 as Estée Lauder's first men's fragrance, created by the great Bernard Chant, and still in production sixty years on. It defined the leather chypre style for a generation: bold, dry, impeccably tailored, and unapologetically masculine.
The opening is sharp and herbal — bergamot brightened with artemisia, clary sage, thyme and a distinctive whisper of cumin and gardenia. The heart brings warmth and spice: jasmine, cardamom and clove over patchouli, sandalwood and vetiver. And the base is what made it famous — rich leather wrapped in oakmoss and amber, the deep, mossy drydown that modern fragrances simply don't attempt anymore.
